Chiropractic is a discipline of healing rooted in science, art and philosophy. It is based on the direct relationship between the integrity of your nervous system and the health of your body. Your nervous system directly controls the function of every cell, tissue, and organ in your body.

Chiropractors examine the bones and joints of the spine as well as surrounding muscles, ligaments and tissues to detect subluxations in the spine. Subluxations are areas in the spine where abnormal position or movement of the vertebrae interferes with communication within the nervous system resulting in abnormal function in the body. These can be found using various diagnostic methods including palpation, range of motion, orthopedic testing, radiographic findings and other methods.

In order to eliminate these subluxations, a chiropractor will perform gentle and specific adjustments which help your spine to return to its proper position and normal range of movement and enable your body to heal itself.

Our chiropractors are trained in many chiropractic techniques, including activator methods, Torque Release Technique, Full Spine Manual Adjusting, Webster Technique and various paediatric and pregnancy chiropractic techniques.

Osteopathic Manual Practitioners work to identify the root cause of symptoms and conditions by removing restrictions and restoring the body’s natural balance. The body is then able to function as designed, inducing self-healing.

Osteopathy is performed through a number of manual techniques including visceral, cranio-sacral therapy and various joint techniques. All movements are gentle and stay within the body’s natural range of motion.

Oestopathy is very effective for pregnant women, babies and children. During pregnancy, Cranial Osteopathic treatment is a safe and effective way of helping the body cope with the additional physical, hormonal and emotional demands of pregnancy and labour. Treatment can help balance the hormonal system and reduce the severity of nausea, vomiting, mood swings and exhaustion and reduce in postural strain and decrease tension in the pelvic floor and diaphragm.

Osteopathy for babies can relieve tension that may have arisen during childbirth. This may include cranial, bone, respiratory and visceral tension. Cranial treatment can also prevent plagiocephaly. In children, treatment can help to correct posture problems and relieve growing pains.

When the body is in healthy vitality, Qi flows smoothly through the meridians that make up the conceptual network of pathways through the body. When Qi is obstructed or deficient or out of balance, the body cannot function best.

Acupuncture can be used as a treatment option for both symptom relief, as in pain, muscular or nerve injury as well as for system wellbeing as in cases for fertility care or anxiety. In western medicine the yin/yang balance acupuncture aims to achieve is known as homeostasis.

Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment option which stimulates endorphins and encourages healing both locally and systemically.

Therapeutic effects include but are not limited to:

Pain relief
Increased energy
Improved mood
Improved sleep
Reduced anxiety

Living in harmony, balance, calm and joy is living in the constant alignment of mind, body, spirit, and emotional energy.

As a movement instructor, from the approach of the physical body, the Pilates method of physical fitness developed by Joseph Pilates, saw the body as a whole, a total package of health and vitality. Based on the Pilates Principles, he created exercises to build lean and long muscle tone & strength while addressing muscular imbalances, improving endurance, range of movement, control, and flexibility, enhancing coordination and balance alongside the body, and mindful resilience. Pilates is great for injury recovery or post-surgery, for chronic low back pain, improving mobility and range of motion, prenatal and post-natal care, building core & back strength to avoid back and neck/shoulder pain, and great for overall body maintenance for all ages.

Combining low-impact movements, and focus breathing while yet challenging the body in mindful awareness makes Pilates one of the top fitness activities accessible for all types of population. It’s complementary to many lifestyles and with consistent practice can bring about effective lasting results.

Incorporating matwork, spring resistande with the tower equipment, and the pilates reformer machine ensures safety and accessibility while providing a robust experience and quality to your overall fitness & movement protocol.

At Thrive, we offer private, semi-private (tandem) sessions along with in-person and online appointments. Our fully certified STOTT Pilates and Qi Gong Flow Form practitioner, Evangeline, will work with you to tailor quality programming to suit your goals while bringing enjoyment and meaningful movement along your wellness journey.

In combination with pilates (“QiCore”)or as a stand-alone practice, the art of Qi gong addresses our life force (chi = energy) and helps to bring back more spark in our body when at times we internally feel like our bodies and mind are running low on battery. Gentle standing or sitting movements, emphasizing breathwork can help release blockage in our body’s energy channels or meridians, which may appear as constant fatigue, low energy, poor sleep, or body aches. Consistent practice helps to bring a calmer mind and lighter, open body while also feeling the subtle muscle work.

Whether our self-care approach is from the outside in or from the inside out, we are 3-dimensional wholesome beings requiring a whole-istic approach -mind, body, and energy to live a strong, abundant, and joyful life!

Dr. Lindsay Grieve is a family chiropractor who places a strong focus of her practice on women’s health, pre- and post-natal care and paediatrics. She believes no one is ever too young or too old to be adjusted.

In 2006 Dr. Grieve graduated from New York Chiropractic College with honours. She has been in practice since 2007 and encompasses a variety of techniques from diversified, Thompson, Activator, MC2 and Torque Release into her adjustment style.

Dr. Grieve’s interest in chiropractic was ignited at a young age when she sought chiropractic care in her early teens to help with a multitude of symptoms, the most prominent one being her chronic headaches. After a few adjustments her health began to drastically improve which helped launch her passion for the profession.

She truly believes that health comes from within and focuses her practice on whole body wellness. Nutrition, exercise, stress reduction and a sound nervous system are key foundations she attests to making a healthier you. “I’m a firm believer that today’s modern day lifestyle is very taxing on our systems, particularly our Nervous System, which is the powerhouse of the body. People often come into the office with a physical complaint but learn by going through the treatment process how important regular adjustments are for overall health and wellness.”

Dr. Grieve is the proud mother to her son, Nikola. She was always a promotor of chiropractic during pregnancy but since experiencing it herself, she developed a new appreciation for the power of chiropractic care during this time. Not only does it help keep you more mobile and reduce common pregnancy systems, it also allows the growing baby all the room they need to move around freely in the uterus. Dr. Grieve is trained in the Webster Technique and has had the pleasure of helping many mothers find ease and comfort during their pregnancy.

In 2016 Dr. Lindsay went through her own personal health scare. She was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow disorder called Aplastic Anemia. The treatment required an intense round of chemotherapy, radiation and a bone marrow transplant, which she was lucky enough to receive from her sister. It was a taxing and gruelling year, a battle to say the least but she came out of it stronger than ever. Not only does she have a new appreciation for health but also an understanding of the challenges that come when your health is taken away from you.

Dr. Grieve is a passionate individual and loves to get out in the community and share her tips on health. If you’re looking for a speaker for your organization or group, please contact the office.
